In the winter of 2003, hesitant lounge singer/karaoke enthusiast Donnie Stroud approached multi-instrumenalist and composer Geoffrey Pomeroy with two songs, a list of potential covers, and a determination to create a new band capable of spanning the prism of genre within a set and ignoring many basic rules that the world of Rock and Roll quietly enforces. Donnie had also enlisted the talents of jazz trumpet maestro, Gregg Kidd, having been a Tijuana Brass fan since childhood. Upon accidentally running into an old friend from the experimental garage art-band days, folk-rock guru guitarist Curt Walheim, the work began.
Please began to gig and get college radio airplay. The songs just kept coming. Stroud, Pomeroy, and Walheim continually engulfed the band with new sonic motifs and lyrics. Individual influences blended into one; the distinct sound of Please. After Greg Kidd's untimely death and through many incarnations in the rhythm section, Please is again strutting the boards with shameless abandon.
With the additions of the melodic Kirk Douglas on bass and the jazz-obsessed Tim Walsh on drums, Please continues their musical journey. Their debut album will be released in February of 2006 with a west coast tour to follow.
Please embodies the essence of indie rock, underground lounge, solid melody, harmony, heartbreak and humor. Thanks for listening.
